She’s got LEGS….

Today was a day that will live on in my mind for DAYS to come. Oh…my aching legs!!

20140507-223014.jpgI was STOKED because I actually tried and made it through the ENTIRE WOD doing the OHS! Not only that but I did them at 65 pounds! I’m not going to lie….but that’s a first for me!! #happyDANCE

You’ve read a thousand times how legs are my fear, but today I think I conquered it fairly well! Kinda proud of myself…..

So if see me walking by, and a tear is in my eye…look away….(sorry I couldn’t resist the lyrics from the song “Look Away” from the group Chicago.) because I am going to be waking like something is WRONG.

What was your workout like today?

PS…OHS meaning again? Overhead Head Squats

Weekend Recap 2

I had so much more from my last post that I needed to spread it out, for fear of putting you ALL to sleep!! You remember what Friday was like…promotion, dinner, drinks….remember?

Well, Saturday was a good day, too. Julian had his 2nd 5k that morning. We were at a historical landmark in Lake Wales (FL), Bok Towers.

20140505-224633.jpg The Singing Tower is 205 feet, that is in the “neo-Gothic and Art Deco” style(s). The Tower is home to one of the world’s finest carillons*. The carillon has 60 bells ranging in weight from 16 pounds to almost 12 tons. Music can be heard any where in the gardens.

I really should dub this Julian’s FIRST 5k because the last course, we were all shorted 3/4 of mile because someone along the course didn’t direct us properly! Oh well…

He was excited again to race! I was happy and sad…happy to support my son for something he obviously enjoys (TOTALLY get that!!) and sad because I couldn’t race!

20140505-231428.jpgMy “supposed” race number. 😢

Julian was ready to go…

20140505-231722.jpg“MOM…stop taking pictures of me!!!”

With his new running buddy and inspiration…

20140505-231826.jpgHe’s 10 and Julian’s 13, but Julian’s only been running for 2 months and his buddy…? Like 2 years!!

And….

20140505-232005.jpgoff he goes!! This course was challenging…asphalt, gravel, mulch, up hill, down hill….oh MY! He did amazingly well, I thought, particularly because of the difficult terrain.

20140505-232204.jpg NOT bad, buddy!!!

We were able to walk the gardens (a little) while times were tallied and awards were being polished 😉.

20140505-232415.jpgThe view from down hill of the tower.

20140505-232507.jpg

20140505-232620.jpgThe clock on one side of the tower bordered by the astrological signs. Neat!!

20140505-232755.jpgCan ALWAYS rely in these guys do to some silly things!! And…

20140505-232916.jpgcan ALWAYS rely on Aidan to do something funny all by himself! LOVE how he made it look like he did something! #sillykid

It was wonderful to share this with Julian. Barely done, Julian asks when the next race! Oh…he’s gotten bitten BADLY!!

I’m enjoying every minute of it!!!

PS…what’s a Carillon you ask? From Bok Tower’s website…

Weekend Recap

My weekend was chock full of….well….stuff! I missed the gym on Friday because hubby had a work function, after hours, at a restaurant in Tampa. Why did I need to be there? Drumroll please….PROMOTION!!! My hubby has just been promoted to Vice President of his company. This is an amazing accomplishment for him and for our family. The dinner, in part, was to celebrate this honor, and I was proud to be a part of this moment with him.

We dined at Shula’s Steak House here in Tampa, FL. It’s the first time I have been to this establishment and I was really looking forward to the food!

Before the food, you can see all of the memorabilia for Coach Shula…pictures, autographs and plaques for wins throughout Coach Shula’s tenure. There was even a replica of the Lombardi Trophy from 1972. NICE!!!

The menu- oh the MENU was full of delectable items. Our server, Gary

20140504-220225.jpg

20140504-220253.jpg was a HOOT! Nice to dine with a server that at least LOOKS like he loves his job!

Our party was 8, so we shared appetizers. We had the Blackened Tenderloin Tips and Ahi Tuna that were eaten so quickly, I didn’t get to snap a picture!

I had the house salad, with mixed greens, hearts of Palm and a vinaigrette dressing.

20140504-221014.jpg It was great!

Entrees ran the gamut in our party…
My table neighbor had the Filet Oscar

20140504-221305.jpgAn 8oz filet topped with jumbo lump crab, hollandaise sauce and asparagus. Yum!!

Hubby had the Cowboy Ribeye.

20140504-221533.jpgThis is a 22oz ribeye that was to DIE for! SN: Hubby doesn’t love sharing his food! It’s now a joke between us and he always shares with me!

I had the 8oz filet with a red wine-herb demi sauce. Again, another item that went super fast, I didn’t snap a picture. #BADblogger!!!

Someone else in our party had the Surf and Turf

20140504-222037.jpgFairly self explanatory but still very worthy of including in the post!

The sides are designed to be shared by the table. We had sautéed and grilled asparagus. The crab Mac and cheese had a Boursin sherry cream, Parmesan cheese, lump crab and topped with bread crumbs. I’m not a huge seafood eater but if you go
to this place, it is a MUST! Lastly, the roasted corn! THE ROASTED CORN!! I❤️corn…ALL types..except creamed 😝. This side dish has Applewood bacon, shallots, garlic, and red pepper. I could have eaten 3 of these!!!

Oh….the wine! How could I forget?

20140504-223017.jpg Concha y Toro. This was a Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon and selected by hubby, my resident Sommelier. He always picks great wine, and he didn’t disappoint.

We were all STUFFED, so can you believe we didn’t get dessert??? We didn’t….! I was so full, I couldn’t move. I was afraid I was going to fall asleep on the way home!! #foodDRUNK

What a nice way to celebrate a special promotion for a VERY SPECIAL man. He’s worked so hard and he is very deserving of this honor. I can’t wait to see what his future holds. I’m in for the ride!!

Ok….and this was just Friday! Tomorrow, I’ll finish my recap.
PS…. Guess who’s chair I was able to sit in???

20140504-223959.jpgJoe Robbie, the original owner of the Miami Dolphins. Being a Miami girl, it was kind of neat to sit in the seat “named” for him.

Tomorrow…I’ll finish my weekend recap. I’ve not been this busy in a LONG time!! Kinda nice!

Squats, Push ups, and Thrusters….oh my!

I’m eating a cookie as I sit writing this post. What??? I’m having a cup of coffee to balance it out! 👍.
It’s been one of those days. But “those” days always end well because of the gym! I love being able to get my frustrations out….

Today’s WOD had my panic attack inducing “21-15-9” beginning. Remember….21 of x number of movements/exercise until all done, then 15, then 9. 21-15-9 seems mentally challenging and physically exhausting. This is why I get nervous and feel a “shut down” coming! I’m working on it….

20140501-224448.jpgThe surprise of today…there were 2 WODs, with a 3 minute break in between. O-kaaaaay……
That was brutal! And the movements were not that hard…but it felt like it! But I survived. And I needed to because I don’t want to be stuck in the land of “I suck” while my shin heals forever. Truth be told…it feels GREAT and I am so tempted to run the 5k with Julian. But for the love of running, I will be patient and wait for my return.

How was your day?
