Ever heard of Haymarket, VA? (Part 2)

….On to day 2 in beautiful Haymarket! It was still a VERY rainy day but I was with my family, so I really didn’t notice too much! πŸ˜ƒ

Day 2 came with a nice surprise because I was able to see my ONLY niece graduate from Pre-K. She’s our “rose amongst the thorns”…you know…the ONLY girl in her immediate family (she has 3 brothers) and the ONLY girl of all the cousins (I have 2 boys to add to the mix!).

It wasn’t that long ago that Aidan was graduating! Hell…it feels like yesterday that Julian graduated from Pre-K! It does seem like time flies…..

Still didn’t get to run because of the weather. My sister thinks I’m nuts because I’m on vacation and workout. I HAVE to do something so I may enjoy the food and DRINKS that I will partake in! #sorrynotSORRY
Am I crazy? Yes
Am I a tad bit unstable? Why…YES! But I am comfortable in my insanity! It works for me!πŸ˜‰

Last day in Haymarket tomorrow…..

Happy Father’s Day to all of you dads out there! I am very blessed to have a wonderful Dad

…and a wonderful husband who is a wonderful father to our sons…

Ever heard of Haymarket, VA??

I am just returning from a GREAT trip at my sister’s in Haymarket, VA. Never heard of it? Neither did I until she moved there. πŸ˜‰. Come to find out it has a rich history dating back to the Civil War Era. It still has that small town feeling amongst today’s “hustle and bustle” of busy people.

My trip was for two purposes…obviously to visit and catch up with my sister

20140614-102615-37575349.jpgThat’s is from Thanksgiving 2013 in Haymarket

…and two, to see my brand new nephew!!

20140614-102804-37684283.jpgMeet 3M’s newest member, Gavin!! (born in May)

I was EXCITED to meet him!! My boys are 13 and 7, so it is really nice to see, hold, and smell a baby! No…before you even ask..I’m TOO old and poor to have another kid! Remember…I JUST turned 42!!πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜’πŸ˜ (I don’t think there are enough emoticons to express THAT!!)

This was a trip SANS children, so even MORE of a reason to be happy!! The weather was not conducive to a mini va-cay.. but I do make the best of it!!

Got to eat some great places and First up….

Lion and Bull Restaurant. It’s a cute pub around the corner from where Mo (that’s my sister) lives.

20140614-105917-39557153.jpgChicken Tortilla soup was to DIE for and I only wish that it was a bigger bowl!

20140614-110014-39614953.jpg Mo and my mom had the chicken salad on a bed of mixed greens! Usually I’m picky about those kind of salads but this was GREAT!! The right mix of chicken with mayo, onions and celery. #YUM

20140614-171138-61898282.jpgSorry for the bite!!! I had the Buffalo Grilled Chicken wrap (86 the Buffalo sauce). It had provolone cheese and lettuce. Works for me!!!

I didn’t get to run because it was RAINING! (ie NOT conducive to vacations!).

That was Day #1….

Tomorrow…Day#2 and #3 of my visit to Haymarket.

My First WOD….

…as a 42 year old!!!. Yep…that happened….yesterday was my birthday, June 8. It was great and I felt every bit of being a 42 year old, mother of two!

“Abby” is in honor of one of trainers, Her dog, Abby, whom we all loved dearly, passed away on Saturday. She was like our mascot….

We all joked that we thought Abby would not appreciated the slam ball run. She would have loved for us to just “chill” on the floor….doing a whole lot of NOTHING! You know it IS hot is Florida at 5:30…πŸ˜“πŸ˜“πŸ˜“πŸ˜“

Any way….I NEEDED to work butt off today because I really indulged at dinner at Bonefish Grill.

A yummy pork chop topped with prosciutto and fontina cheese with a Marsala sauce. Seriously….OMG!!

My dad had the Soft Shell crab….

Miguel has the Sea Bass...

Then we went to The Cheesecake Factory for dessert! Oh boy!! SN: sorry about the pictures as this stuff was so yummy, we dove it and I TOTALLY forgot to grab pictures!

Vanilla Bean Cheesecake
Blueberry White Chocolate Cheesecake

This is why I HAD to workout today….πŸ˜‰

Well…upward and onward with year number 42!!

How was your day? What did you do?

Summer Running

…had me a BLAST! Summer running, happened so FAST (well..not really). In case you didn’t catch that…that’s a little play in “Summer Lovin'” from Grease! You hear it…you hear it NOW??? πŸ˜‰

The summer always starts for me when schools OUT and the Watermelon Series begins! It’s a great way to keep motivated to run in this sweltering Florida heat! πŸ˜“. This is a 4 series race..2 in June, 1 in July, and 1 in August. BONUS?? Only 30 bucks for the WHOLE SERIES! #SWEET

It is a flat course, around beautiful Lake Hollingsworth in Lakeland, FL.

It starts at 7 am before Florida decides to be hot!! I had my trusty running bud with me, #1 (aka Julian)

He’s finally done with final exams (6th grade FINALS…can you believe it??) and school is out. He hasn’t run since his last 5k last month. I am coming back from shin splint hiatus, so THIS is my first 5k in TWO months!! Nervous?? Only because I thought my shin splints were going to come back.

And we are off…

20140607-093456-34496442.jpg After a break…a girl can dream, can’t she??

20140607-093939-34779225.jpg Me…thinking that I’m dying!!

20140607-094457-35097690.jpgI love this shirt.. “Mom’s Gone Running” (sorry it’s so blurry!)

20140607-094652-35212597.jpgRun Like a Mother! #hellYEAH

All in all, I survived. The head game that I’m playing with myself, about my time, is in FULL swing! I’m trying NOT to listen….

Our after sweat glow!
I’m so proud of this kid of mine!!

Off to do my ab challenge, Day 7.

Have a great weekend!

What did you do to start off your weekend? Any races??

June 4 was NRD ie National Running Day and I did squeak in a run. I didn’t do anything special…1.25 miles on the DREADmill. Let me point out that the kiddos and myself enjoyed the day…ALL DAY…at the beach. I came home, exhausted and sandy, and plopped my butt in some running shorts and did what I had to do!! I wasn’t breaking any records because 🎢I’m working my WAY back to you, BABE….🎢 (in my best “Spinners” voice!! sorry….couldn’t resist! BABE, by the way, is RUNNING…JUST in case you didn’t get it!). But it IS more than the 1 mile I sucked at earlier this week (or was it late last week??? Hmmmm….)

It felt good and I was so glad to run. And as much as I hate the DREADmill, I’d take it in a heartbeat than go on a two month hiatus again.

How did YOU celebrate National Running Day?

Run, Angie…..RUN!

Whoa…yesterday’s WOD had me sitting here…laying in my BED at 10pm (rare) ready to go to sleep (EXTREMELY rare). What a WOD…

20140602-222618-80778590.jpg3 minute rest and then….

Since I am doing a triathlon in July, I NEED desperately to run. Yesterday, was the first official day back to running. It was great to be back…but it was a HORRIBLE run! I only did one mile, to see how my sea legs were. Ugh….
I thought I was going to DIE! How does one person go from 3-5miles to THIS in a short time? SHIN SPLINTS!!!

I won’t let this deter me…
I will stick to it, so I may get back to the thing that I love.
