Glad that’s DONE!!

Halloween flew in like a witch on her broomstick and that b***h flew out even faster!! ๐Ÿ˜‚. For those of you that had beautiful, picturesque Fall weather to enjoy Halloween…I envy you!! It was HOT and mosquito HEAVY here in (outside of) Tampa!!!  But the boys has fun.  Aidan was…

Darth Vater! With Lightsabre, the “Luke, I am your Father” voice changer, and all.  He WOULD pick the evil guy to be….

Julian is 14 and was kinda begging to go trick or treating.  It wasn’t about wearing a costume and more about getting candy!  So he walked with us as…

Darth GATOR!! We were celebrating the WIN against Georgia just a few minutes prior, so his playing around with his borther’s costume was VERY appropriate! #goGATORS

We were left with a TON of candy, NONE of which I ate (yeah me!!!).

Now…what’s this nonsense about CHRISTMAS coming soon?? Ugh….

How was your Halloween?

Any candy your favorite?? Mine? 100 grand bar! For those that aren’t familiar…chocolate, caramel and krispies. HEAVEN!!  Thank goodness, Aidan didn’t get ANY! ๐Ÿ˜

Glad THAT’S done….

Well another Halloween is said and DONE! In a blink of an eye, we will be celebrating Turkey Day!!
Julian didn’t dress up or go Trick or Treating this year. It’s hunting season (deer, that is) and every chance he gets to go with hubby…he’s GONE!! He wasn’t upset in the least about missing the candy fiesta. Aidan, on the other hand….BRING IT!

At school, Aidan was only allowed to be a story book character, so we picked Robin Hood. (HE picked a “Ninja” but I pulled rank and said “NO”! ๐Ÿ˜‰)

IMG_4615-3.JPGBut I guess everyone in this day and age, when they see this costume, they think of a DC Comic character “Green Arrow”…

IMG_4651.JPGI can see the resemblance, but I never HEARD of the dude before Halloween! And in my defense…the costume IS Robin Hood no matter where you purchase it!

We opted out of the traditional trick or treat and went with some friends to the “Halloween SPOOKtacular” at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland,FL. The proceeds went to charity, specifically Kids Pack.

IMG_4635.JPGThis program helps feed hungry children. Many children today go to school HUNGRY!! The organization fills a traditional back pack and is provided to the children. This way, no child has to feel embarrassed by food given to them.

We paid $2 per person and off we went. There was candy stations, bouncy houses, face painting and characters to pose with. And most importantly…there was BEER!

Whoa…not really sure what to say…
#noWORDS

After Halloween fun, we were hungry! We took the boys to Hooters. All of the ladies where dressed up and Aidan was one HAPPY 7 year old!

Funny fact…I was posting some pictures and when I had an option for the locations, I selected “Hooters”..or so I thought…

IMG_4646.JPGOne of my posts, I ACCIDENTALLY selected “Hookers” instead of “Hooters”!! Talk about embarrassing…..๐Ÿ˜

But, he still loves ME the best!!

How was your Halloween?

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Fourth of July๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Whew…that seemed like a blur! I really enjoy July 4th! It’s nice that we all come together, no matter what ethnicity, religion, background, and celebrate as AMERICANS!! I wish it was like this ALL the time……

We usually go to the parade in town. I’ll have you know that ours (in Brandon, FL) is the LARGEST in Florida (so I’ve been told and so has it been advertised!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ). The boys always look forward to it…

20140706-184923-67763138.jpgYou see the excitement! Gotta LOVE that!!

Many local businesses, school bands and organizations, local politicians (incumbents and ones that are running), anyone you can think of participates in this parade. It really shows what kind of community we live in.

Just a small sample of some participants. I didn’t get as many as I wanted because I was too busy having fun! This year they were celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the first high school in the area, Brandon High School.

You can’t go to ANY parade in the Tampa Bay Area without beads! You know like Mardi Gras in NOLA?

20140706-185627-68187472.jpgThe boys are WAITING for the beads!
I have a TON of beads…like…two plastic grocery bags full!
During the parade, candy is thrown with the beads, too. We have enough to last us until Halloween! ๐Ÿ˜‰

After the parade, we go home and hubby ALWAYS hooks up a great holiday meal! We had fried chicken, BBQ Pork, fried fish, veggies, Mac and Cheese. Not exactly the healthy meal, but HEY…it only comes around once a year!! ๐Ÿ˜‰. Oh…how can I forget…my hubby’s corn! This is literally my favorite!!

20140706-190137-68497915.jpgHe uses milk, butter, and sugar! OMG!! I really eat the corn more than everything else!!

And of course what is this holiday without fireworks?? Hubby picks the best kind….

20140706-190609-68769477.jpgHAHAHAHAHA!! A little July 4th humor! I couldn’t resist…..

All in all, it was a great holiday with family. The only thing that is “sad” about this holiday….
School supplies are in the stores the VERY next day!!! #toosoon #notREADY #REALLY

How was your holiday??

Easter 2014

This post will seem VERY odd after my vodka tasting post yesterday! I wrote this post BEFORE the vodka, but some how it was lost in cyberspace! So, I will rewrite it for you. I know….I KNOW! You’re super excited, huh??

We, in the Leyva house, enjoyed Easter with church, family, and……CANDY!!!! The “candy mongers”, aka Julian and Aidan, got to their baskets FAST!! It felt like Christmas morning because they were up early before I could get to them!!!

>

20140421-093001.jpg

20140421-093039.jpgShame on me for not getting a picture BEFORE they got to it!!! #epicMOMfail. They, like their mom, love the Gators too! I couldn’t resist getting these buckets for them. Brainwashing Educating those kids right!!๐Ÿ˜‰

Church was packed, as to be expected, but it was nice to celebrate this joyous day! My Easter Lily opened up beautifully….which is surprising considering I’m BLACK DEATH in regards to plants! They NEVER survive me!!! My house smells so good!!!

20140421-134618.jpg BEAUTIFUL!!!!

The boys were ready for Mass in their new Easter shirts…….>

20140421-143038.jpg….which I’m PROUD to say I still hold to that tradition of buying something new for Easter? Thanks, Mom!๐Ÿ˜˜โค๏ธ

And as a tradition in our house, Miguel (aka Hubby) is hooking up a lovely Easter Dinner for us…..as I sat writing this post originally! Damn cyberspace!!!!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful day with family and friends. I am still basking in the joy of our Risen Lord…..and also thankful that my kids weren’t bothering the HELL out of me in the car this morning! #catholicschoolproblems #poorme

20140421-143526.jpg AMEN Cute, huh? From “Catholic Church” Facebook page.>
