Guess what I did this weekend?? No…not a half marathon! No…not a 70.3! No….not even a 5k! I.went.CAMPING!!! Wha???? That’s right….camping! My youngest Aidan is a scout and this was the required camping necessary for the Bear badge. When I found out, I thought “Perfect thing for Dad (Hubs to me) and older son (Julian or J to me) to do together.”.  Right?? Already I had a day planned out for myself…nails…toes…lounging on the couch watching what I want to watch!! But…no…Aidan says to me “Mommy, you went with Julian when he was in scouts.” Well…just stab me in the heart, why don’t ya????  Well, great!!! I’ve decided to go..

Saturday (i.e. The Day of camping), Aidan was in the District competition for the Pinewood Derby

…and guess who placed third in the District? #thisguy

After that…it was back to the camp site for ourdoor fun (or at least that’s what i was told!). Just to give you an idea of what kind of camper I AM

….my LV was with me! 😂. But in my defense I was some place else prior to the tenting and I honestly didn’t think of changing my purse when we left home! #oops

Just to give you an idea of my private little hell..err…abode ….

…I had a lot of head space because it was 6′

….This thing slept 8, even though we are 4
…..and a little lamp to light my way if I needed to at night! Yeah…right!!

My likes: my kids had a BLAST!

He was on the Red Team (meaning he cooked breakfast in the morning!)

Aidan learned how to use a pocket knife (badge requirement) and he got to do it with his Dad (aka Hubs)

Most importantly, much to my chagrin for the outdoor sleeping, I was making memories with my family! #winning

My dislikes: Ummm…:sleeping outside (aka in a tent) wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. We didn’t bring our air mattresses, so it was floor all.night.LONG!  The freaking rooster that started his “cock-a-doodle-do” sh*t at 2:30am, and every hour on the hour…yeah…I could have done without! Let’s just say, we all had a taste for chicken from breakfast!!!  I wanted to press the freaking “snooze” button on that rooster!! Kudos to all of you farmers out there because it is obvious now how and why you get sh*t DONE!!

Basically, I would go again, if my kids asked me too, but I’d have to prep myself again for outdoor sleeping.  As I told my friend “it wasn’t as bad as I thought, I just wouldn’t rush to do it again”.😂

How was your weekend???

RunGAB 3

It’s Wednesday, y’all!  Let’s GAB!!

If we were running today, I’d tell you..

….I am going to do a race this weekend. Nothing big…nothing spectacular….”just” a 5k.  This time of year, as the weather cools down in Hell..I mean Florida…I start to particiapte in more runs.  I usually average 2 a month and I’m hoping on sticking to that goal (fingers crossed folks!!).  Faster with Fitniche 5k.  I haven’t down this race in about 5 years.  It’s easy course…small…and really no pressure!  I just registered, so I might not be guaranteed a shirt. (Well…DAMN! It’s ALL about the shirt, right?!?!?).

….I “think” I found another triathlon to do!  I must be CRAY CRAY, but I’m excited! Siesta Key Triathlon is October 3rd and my friend kinda talked me into it.  1/2 mile swim (possible), 13 mile bike (possible IF I don’t have a flat!!), and 5k run in packed sand (well…I’m not STOKED about that!).  And it’s for a good cause because it benefits the Sarasota YMCA Sharks swim team. #teamplayer. I’m waffling on registering because I noticed there were cut off times and I’ve never done a race with that before.  What if I suck an do not make the cut off??? I don’t know what to do…..

…I want a new triathlon bike! Wha??????  What I NEED to do is learn how to ride and change the damn tire on my CURRENT bike!  Hey….I said I wanted one but I really don’t need one! #dreamsareFREE

…I’ve added ONE more thing to my weekly schedule. My youngest Aidan

is starting back at Scouts today. The meetings are the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.  Officially, I now only have weekends free.  This is why the “squeeze in” workouts are my staple right now. #ugh

How was your Wednesday?

Herein lies the “Mishaps”…

I have “Mishaps” in the title of this blog. I’m sure you’ve probably figured out WHY I have it…..😉

I’ve done it again….added another thing to my list of THINGS TO DO!

IMG_4306.JPGYep….that’s right! You read it correctly. CUB SCOUTS!! For those that are not familiar, Cub Scouts is an amazing organization for elementary boys (Grade 1-5). This is an environment for boys to learn it ALL….

IMG_4260.JPG…and this guy gets to be that boy! Aidan BEGGED me, pleaded with me to go to the meeting this evening. The kid is good because he’s been working in me for about 2 weeks when it first came home from school. How can you say no to that face???❤️

Well…herein lies the mishaps…I have now committed myself to three Wednesdays a month for meetings….2 Den meetings (all second graders) and 1 Pack meeting (all of the Dens). WHAT was I thinking?? I did the same with my oldest…only difference…I was the leader!!!! “Fool me once, shame on you….fool me twice, shame on ME”. Yep….didn’t sign up to be a leader this time! #whew

So….I will continue to try and balance my work life, squeezing in my own work out goals, and my children’s extra curricular activities.

I have a challenge ahead of me! The “Mom” in me will make it happen, I will continue to drive and run the “Miles” necessary to make the “Mishaps” not so mishap-y!
