WILT #10

I’m SORE from yesterday’s WOD…

I’ve missed A LOT of WILTs (REMINDER: What I Love Tuesdays).
So here I go…..

1. FIZZIO
Have you seen or heard about Starbucks new hand crafted soda?? Let me say….I LOVE this!! It comes in three different flavones: Ginger ale, Lemonade, and Spiced Root Beer.

2. Granola
How do I love thee??? Let me count the ways!!!! I found a new one whilst pumping gas at my local RaceTrac!

IMG_4060.JPGIt has almonds, blueberries, and a “glazed” top. It’s like a dessert!!

3. Muscle Milk
I stumbled upon this…again at my local RaceTrac gas station.

IMG_3997.JPGIt’s only 100 calories and it was a PERFECT pre and post workout “snack”.

4. DREADmill
As much as I HATE the thing, it is a STAPLE in my morning now! Since I have added a 4 am run (amounts to about 2.25 miles in the time I have), I have to run on the DREADmill because it pitch ass dark at that time!!

IMG_4074.JPGOf course I’m STUCK in #garagePARADISE!! But I love my time in the morning with DREADmill. We have taken out relationship to a whole NEW level! 😘❤️

5. New races
I signed up for a triathlon in October. An all woman’s race!!

WILT #9

Tuesday has arrived…and almost gone as I write this post. I thought about what I was going to write about this Tuesday. As I continue to participate in my pity party, I figured I would write about what I love….Running.

I’ve been lucky enough to be a participant in his sport for about 10 years. It was a sport that I never imagined I would like, let alone love. In 2000, I decided I wanted to do a triathlon. Being a former competitive swimmer, I had the swim leg on lock! I didn’t really think much of the bike (yes…I know I can ride a bike…I should be FINE!!), so that only left the run. And let me say a big UGH!!!

I don’t like to do anything half ass, so I knew of I was going to this, I needed to face my “fear” of running. So…off I went. I started slowly, hated every step I took. But I wasn’t going to give up….

I did my first 5k about 3 years after I started running. The delay was because I was graduating from PA school, had a baby, and, oh….finding a job. It all fell into place, as it was supposed to. I kept running as a stress reliever. Working full time, having a baby, and a husband that worked out of town = one stressed out Angie. Running got me through some very dark, sad, and stressful times.

Outside of the physical benefits, I liked how running made me feel on the inside. It was by “happy place. It was the only thing, and still is, that I have during my day that doesn’t involve anyone or anything else. It’s just me, my music (sometimes) and the road.

And the more I ran, the more I LOVED it. And suffice to say, the triathlon went to the back burner and running became my passion. I wanted to do well, I wanted to get better, I wanted to be a runner.

Now as I am looking at another hiatus from running because of injury, I’m scared I won’t be able to do what I love. This is my second bout of shin splints in a few months. I am disappointed at myself because I’m in some pain while running. I’m mad at my body for “betraying” me, and I have been so good to it. Why me? Why again? Why now?

Here’s where I put myself in check…
I am here! I am here every day…breathing good air and being thankful for another day. I can still move when I want, when others can’t. I can still walk, and eventually run, when others can’t. I figured instead of focusing on what I don’t have right now is just wasted energy and time. It also builds up a bunch of negativity, and I don’t have any room for that now!

So what do I LOVE on Tuesday and all other days? RUNNING
I miss it now like I’d miss a loved one. But we will
Be reunited again, my friend! 🎶Reunited….and it feels so goooood

It was my (pity) party, and I can cry if I want to….

Ever had something that you had to stop because of injury?
How did you handle it??

PS…I hoped to be healed for a triathlon in June. Fingers crossed and lots of prayers.

WILT #7

Another fun filled Tuesday! I look forward to Tuesdays because it’s a REST DAY! Weird that I picked this particular day, huh? It works…

1. Forever 21
This is one of my favorite shops. You can find cute clothes, accessories and stuff VERY cheap!! I would like to point out that I do feel kinda odd shopping in there because I am no where NEAR 21. Hubby pointed out that I can go in there….but I need to go in TWICE! (Get it…I’m 42…it’s 21…21 x 2 is 42…. You know??). I literally rolled over laughing at that comment!! There are some items that are too trendy, too short, or too young for this gal. But I always find something…like this…

2. Brio Tuscan Grille
Hubs and I ate at this restaurant in Orlando. I forgot how MUCH I like this place….all inspired by Tuscany (a place I DESPERATELY want and need to visit). The food is so good from here, but this time we just popped in for a few cocktails and snacks.

3. Wahlburgers
I don’t get to watch much but I have to admit when I do…it’s Reality TV. So embarrassing…
I stumbled upon a show about the Wahlberg Family, you know Donnie from NKOTB, Marky Mark (minus the Funky Bunch) and their older brother. They have a restaurant “Wahlburgers” and their famous family. It’s kinda neat and kinda addicting. “Hi..my name is Angie…and I’m addicted to Reality TV”

4. Book Club Book of the Month
I am fortunate enough to belong to a book club with some great ladies. This month’s book is “Orphan Train” by Christina Baker Kline. I literally haven’t put it down! I’m almost done and I just started the book 3 days ago. Maybe I’ll do a post about my books once a month. Hmmmmm…..
I’d be interested in any suggestions on books (what you liked, didn’t like, a “must” read…)

WILT #2

It’s Tuesday…it’s Tuesday!!!! So I have another What I Love Tuesday (affectionately referred to by me as WILT). I tried to diversify my list, so I didn’t just look like all my LOVES are food. I mean they are…..but I want to present well to all of you! 😉

Here we go….

1. Brookside Dark Chocolate Açai

These little slices of heaven are great for that afternoon sweet tooth (PUH-LEEZE tell me you get this too!!!!). The dark chocolate covers a fruit flavored center of açai and blueberry. I first tried these at Costco about a year ago and didn’t think about them,again until recently (most likely due to “MOM-NESIA”)

Not too bad on the nutritional side, either! For a serving size of 16 pieces, it’s 170 calories, 8g of fat (total), 28g of carbs (YIKES!!), 1g of fiber, 1g of protein. I don’t eat them all the time just because of the carb count, but they are still so yummy!!! And the best part??? My boys, J and A, don’t really like them, so they are ALL MINE!!!

2. Ross

What can I say??? I find everything here! This is nothing new to anyone, but I just had to include it in my list because I was just there this weekend!

The dangerous part is that they built one literally right around the corner from my house. It happens to be on my running route (“Hey honey??? I’m going out for my run………”). Why not get some exercise,shop, then drive back with my car to pick it up? You see I’ve thought this through….
I don’t have photos of what I bought, but I found two shirts to wear over leggings (ie weekend wear), a dress, and a clutch. When I wear them, I’ll snap a shot.

3. Smith’s Rosebud Salve

This salve (SAAAA-ve) still comes in the original tin but I found it in a tube, which makes me even happier. I swear by this stuff! I use it on my lips, cuticles, hands and feet. So now that I have it in just the tube, I just use it on my lips.

4. Bliss
Again, another find about 5 years ago, I’ve been faithful to using their Lemon and Sage body rinse. They also have a skin care line, which I decided to branch out and try.

GREAT product!!! It’s doesn’t leave your face feeling dry or oily…you feel refreshed and clean! I have the classic “combination” skin and I find it difficult to be happy with a product. So much so, that it just went to soap and water to wash my face. This can be found at Sephora or Bliss.

5. Tommy Bahama
I love the clothes, I love the products, and NOW….I LOVE the restaurant! I didn’t know one existed until last weekend, when I was with M in Sarasota. It’s located at St. Armand’s circle; what a island feel it gives you! The decor, the mood, music and food all make you feel like you are in a permanent va-cay!!! Highly recommend Tommy Bahama if you are in the Sarasota area.
